10th International Sheep Veterinary Congress, Seville (Spain), 2021

The Spanish Association for Sheep and Goat Production (SEOC) is organizing on behalf of the International Sheep Veterinary Association their next meeting. In 2021, the 10th International Sheep Veterinary Congress will be held in Seville (Spain) from September 20th to 24th September.

The scientific programme will consist of a number of invited Plenary talks, and accepted contributions in Topic focused oral sessions and posters, together with some technical tours.

“Opportunities to improve the profitability and sustainability of the sheep and goat sector.”

The meeting will be of interest to farmer and processor organisations, government and non-governmental bodies and international organizations with a role in the sheep and goat sector.
The aim is to discuss implementation strategies for ISAGE project outputs and to provide recommendations at the European scale of future needs to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of sheep and goat systems through:
– Increased efficiency and profitability.
– Improved overall sustainability (environment, welfare) and innovative capacity of the sector.
– Enhanced consumer acceptance of sheep and goat products
– New efficiency traits for breeding schemes

Instructions for Applicants

Only applicants who have a maximum age of 38 years and are nationals of an EAAP member country – or, if from other countries, are EAAP individual members – can apply for a grant to attend the EAAP Annual Meeting. Applicants who have previously obtained a scholarship cannot reapply within 3 years.

Before 1st March 2020 – To be sent to the EAAP

For each applicant, the EAAP Secretariat in Rome (eleonora@eaap.org) should receive:

  • Name, address, email and phone number, date of birth and short CV
  • Name and address of the institution where he/she works.
  • The paper that the applicant intends to present, written in English. The paper should not exceed 5 pages including tables, figures and references. The contribution should be in line with the agenda of one of the provisional sessions (joint or single ones).

A copy of the original abstract form (in English), completed in accordance with the instructions given by Wageningen Academic publishers

EAAP Young Scientists Award

EAAP will grant to early career researchers the “EAAP Young Scientists Award”. All scientists who are born after 1 September 1982 can participate. The candidates should be EAAP individual members and should have demonstrated outstanding research performance with the European dimension and perspective. The awardee will receive a plate in Porto and will be invited to present a paper at the following Annual Meeting in Davos 2021 together with a free registration.

Nominations must be submitted to the EAAP office (eleonora@eaap.org) starting from January 2020, deadline 15th May.

The application shall be accompanied by the documents below:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • European experience (if not in CV) such as participation in EU projects or benefiting EU grants
  • List of scientific publications and of products (e.g. patents)
  • List of eventual presentations at the EAAP Annual Meetings
  • Letter of support by another Individual Member
  • Eventual EAAP related scholarships received.

The UEECA (Unión de Entidades Españolas de Ciencia Animal) has already decided on the four candidates that will be awarded a scholarship to attend the 2020 EAAP Annual Meeting in Porto. These are the candidates and the titles of the contributions:

  • Karina Orquera from CITA-Aragón, “The effect of routine management practices on the behaviour of beef cows according to their feeding management”
  • Davinia Isabel Perdomo González, from Universidad de Sevilla “Partial inbreeding coefficient analysis in Pura Raza Español horse population
  • Enrique Muñoz-Ulecia from CITA-Aragón, “A thirty-years analysis of trajectories of evolution of mountain cattle farming systems in the Spanish Pyrenees
  • Cristina Casto Rebollo from  Universidad Politècnica de Valencia ”Selection for environmental variance in rabbits could modify genomic regions affecting resilience”
